Therapy
Individual Therapy
I have been providing individual therapy since 2001. Over the years I have realized that the most important contributor to growth is the therapeutic alliance between patient and therapist. Our relationship can make or break your treatment which is why it is vital to select the right therapist for you. It is extremely important to give each therapist enough time to make a connection with you which may take several sessions. I recommend meeting for at least 3-6 sessions to see if our connection seems strong enough. I conduct 45 minute sessions and would be happy to provide a double session or multiple sessions per week.
Couples Therapy
I have a particular passion for working with couples. Some may need help reconnecting with their partner, some may need help saying goodbye, and some may need help communicating love. Whatever the goal is, I will be there to work with the couple and help guide them to their goal. My preference is to work with couples for 1.5 hours instead of the typical 45 minute session. I find that it gives everyone in the room the space they need to communicate their needs. Generally we start off with 45 minute sessions and decide together how to proceed. I also find it particularly important that each member of the couple wants to be in therapy and isn’t just there to appease their partner.
Family Therapy
We all belong to a family. It may be a family you were born into or one you have chosen. Families are made up of unique individuals that each play a role. Maintaining a healthy family dynamic can be especially difficult when a member or multiple members of the family may be causing an eruption in an otherwise stable unit. Family therapy is a great tool to help stabilize the unit, allow for open communication, and provide interpretations of the disruption within the unit. I prefer to work with families for 1.5 hours instead of the typical 45 minute session.
